So
you have cut down on the amount you eat, started some gentle
exercise and you're drinking plenty of water. What else can
you do?
Think about replacing what you eat with healthier
alternatives. You probably drink a lot of soft
drinks. Why not replace them with fresh juices?
They still taste great, but at least they contain natural sugars
instead of the refined kind, and they also contain vitamins - and you
are avoiding those nasty additives such as colourings and flavourings
that are in so many soft drinks.
Avoid white bread. Wholemeal bread stabilizes blood sugar
levels so you won't get hungry as quickly. The same goes for pasta and
rice. This is an easy way to curb your hunger and they also
contain more fibre to aid in digestion. Although it might take a while
to get used to, you will probably find them taster than the white
alternatives too.
Avoid dairy and always look for lower fat alternatives, such as skimmed
milk, half-fat cheese or sunflower spread instead of butter.
Grill or bake food instead of frying it, cut off any excess fat on meat
and avoid high fat sauces.
Snacks are fine between meals, so long as you choose healthy
alternatives. Instead of crisps and chocolate, try fruit,
vegetables or low fat yoghurts. They all taste sweet and give
you a quick burst of energy, but without the high fat
content. In addition they contain more beneficial nutrients
such as vitamins, minerals and fibre.

Start small - gradually cut down your food intake and increase your exercise regime.
